Ancient hills, cultural antiquities and valuable monuments from various historical periods in the Jiroft cultural field, which have gained world renown and have been taken into consideration by the scientific circles of archeology inside and outside of Iran, are considered as the unique antiquities in Iran and the world. For example, one of the oldest urban civilizations which is called the Marhashi civilization and has the age of five thousand has been located in Jiroft and is known as one of the first systematic cities in the world that has gained world renown. The unique archaeological of this region has provided infrastructures, necessities and required facilitates for the opening of undergraduate and master degree of archeology at the University of Jiroft. The Archeology Department has started its educational activities since 2012 and in line with its development policies, has received the license of master degree since late 2012. This department has two academic staffs and currently accepts student in Undergraduate and Master Degree.
